Is this another blogger (with a small ‘b’) takedown?:
Stung by criticism that they were lowering ethical standards, House Republicans on Monday night reversed a rule change that would have allowed a party leader to retain his position even if indicted.
I suspect that blogs played a big role in keeping this story alive after the regular news cycles would have otherwise dropped it. Kos and Josh Marshall deserve special credit for digging into this.
Perhaps there IS hope for our democracy, after all. The politicans certainly aren’t going to police themselves - that much is clear. But to quote an open source software catch phrase, “many eyes make all bugs shallow” (think about that one, “Exterminator” DeLay).
UPDATE: Dan Gillmor has some good analysis of the nuts and bolts of this “takedown.”
