“Faith Based” Science Strikes Again

Once again, the Bush administration is applying its “faith based” scientific method - if the facts don’t fit your ideology, change the facts:

More than half of the biologists and other researchers who responded to the survey said they knew of cases in which commercial interests, including timber, grazing, development and energy companies, had applied political pressure to reverse scientific conclusions deemed harmful to their business.

The survey was sent to employees of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which is responsible for making sure that endangered species are put on well, the endangered species list. Of course, if you’re George W. Bush and your primary supporters are big business, you’re not too keen on this idea. So what is a President to do?

Of course! Make them tell you what you want to hear.

Unfortunately for our environment, we need look no further than Iraq to see how that approach worked out.
